
Churchill Elangwe-Preston is an entrepreneur, community leader, and advocate for opportunity whose remarkable journey from Cameroon to Maine reflects the power of education, perseverance, and service.
Originally from Limbe, Cameroon, Churchill grew up surrounded by coffee and cocoa farming. After coming to the United States, he pursued his education in Maine, studying electrical technology at Kennebec Valley Community College and later electrical engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology. He went on to build a successful career in engineering and quality management before following his passion for coffee and international entrepreneurship.
Churchill is the founder of Mbingo Mountain Coffee, a Waterville-based company that builds connections between consumers and small-scale coffee farmers in Africa. His work emphasizes entrepreneurship, economic opportunity, and stronger relationships between communities across continents.
A committed community leader, Churchill has served on nonprofit boards and supported youth mentoring and programs designed to create opportunities for young people. His leadership has been recognized through the 2023 Emerging Leader of the Year Award from the Central Maine Growth Council and KV Connect. In 2024, he returned to Kennebec Valley Community College as its commencement keynote speaker.
Churchill is a Board member of the Alfond Youth & Community Center and is the founder of the Youth Club WYC affiliate in Limbe, Cameroon in 2025.
As part of World Youth Clubs, Churchill will bring a unique international perspective, entrepreneurial spirit, and deep commitment to helping young people discover opportunity and reach their potential. His life and work demonstrate that when communities invest in people, the impact can reach far beyond borders.
