Ernie Hudson, one of this generation’s most well-versed actors, is back on the big screen. This spring, he will return as one of the stars to the timeless “Ghostbusters” franchise in the latest iteration, “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire.” One of the original OG’s from the classic films, his character ‘Winston’ is now a billionaire and controls the Ghostbusters team. He is reunited with Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd to bring back the original crew.
He currently stars opposite Donny Wahlburg in “Boston Blue” for CBS, a spinoff from the hit series “Blue Bloods”. Ernie also voices Combat Carl in “Toy Story 5”. He stars opposite Raymond Lee in “Quantum Leap”, streaming on Netflix. The series follows a new team as they restart the Quantum Leap project in hope of understanding the mysteries behind the machine and the man who created it.
Ernie also stars and executive produces the television series “The Family Business” now in its sixth season on BET Plus and streaming on Netflix. He previously starred in the acclaimed Netflix’s drama series “Grace and Frankie” starring opposite Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda. He won the Satellite Award for Best Actor in a Series for his performance in HBO’s acclaimed prison series “OZ”. Other television credits include “Modern Family”, “The Secret Life of the American Teenager”, “Law & Order”, ”LA’s Finest” with Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba, “Twin Peaks”, “Scandal”, “Blue Bloods”, “Grey’s Anatomy”, and “Ballers”, with Duane Johnson, the Rock.
His film credits include all five “Ghostbusters” movies, “The Crow” with Brandon Lee, “Miss Congeniality 1 and 2”, with Sandra Bullock, “The Hand that Rocks the Cradle”, opposite Julianne Moore and Rebecca DeMornay, “Congo”, with Laura Linney. More recent film releases include, “Champions”, with Woody Harrelson, “Retirement Plan”, with Nicolas Cage, and “Prisoner’s Daughter”, with Brian Cox.
When not working, Ernie prides himself on staying fit and spending time with his family. The Michigan native resides between Los Angeles and the serene San Bernardino mountains.
