compliance for various public, non-traded companies. Qualified candidate for public board service with in depth, proven financial leadership experience; meets “financial expert” criteria under SEC/NYSE for service on public company audit committees. Over 15 years of real-life boardroom experience and as a named executive officer of several public non-traded companies (and previously, one NYSE listed company), she presents at board and audit committee meetings and leads the relationships with the audit committee chairs and external auditors (Big 4 accounting firms) of several public, non-traded companies. Extensive reporting experience in the areas of IPOs, M&A and registration statements and can provide guidance to companies preparing to go public.

Currently, chief financial officer, treasurer and senior vice president of CNL Healthcare Properties, Inc., a public, non-traded real estate investment trust (REIT), key member of the leadership team, voting member of the company’s investment committee and presents strategic and financial updates to its board of directors and audit committee.

Previously served as SVP and chief accounting officer for CNL's public company platform consisting of eight CNL-sponsored funds (public, non-traded REITs and business development companies (BDCs)) with over $10 billion in combined assets. Effectively established public company reporting and compliance infrastructure for funds with investments in office and industrial, multi-family, healthcare and other industries from initial launch through the dissolution of each fund. Led the registration process that converted a non-traded REIT into a publicly traded REIT (NYSE:TSY) and oversaw all SEC and SOX compliance. Following the sale of TSY to GE Capital - Franchise Finance, became Controller of GE-FF, oversaw a $12 billion loan and lease portfolio and was a key member of three M&A integration teams. Began her career as audit staff at KPMG in New York City and progressed through the role of audit manager in the Orlando, Florida, office of Coopers & Lybrand.

Ms. Duarte is a certified public accountant (CPA) and certified management accountant (CMA). Ms. Duarte is a philanthropist in her community, is a member of the United Way Tocqueville Society and is fluent in Spanish.
