Addressing Gender Inequality in Wales and Nuevo León, Mexico

The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs of Wales hosted an event, Sunday July 13 at Cardiff City Football Stadium to celebrate the work they have been doing with Club de Niños y Niñas de Nuevo León, A.B.P. There, along with Grangetown Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs and guest speakers they launched their campaign for 'More than Equal’, a movement fueled by purpose, passion, and international collaboration. Under the banner of #PowerOfNow the campaign is about saying: “we want more than we’ve had – because we deserve it.”

‘More than Equal’ was born out of the project Empowering Young Females for Gender Equality that explores the influence that gender inequality has on young women in Mexico and Wales. This project is supported by the British Council Youth Connect, champions young people’s rights, voices, and wellbeing. It aims to create inclusive, young person-led spaces where girls are empowered to lead, question, and thrive. In a world where young women encounter systemic barriers that hinder their leadership potential, professional growth, and access to key opportunities, it is more important than ever to uplift young women and girls.

When young people are given the tools and confidence to lead, they become catalysts for change, challenge societal barriers, uplift communities, and shape a future where everyone has the chance to succeed and create a world where equality and inclusivity are not just ideals, but realities.

YOU can empower youth and change the world.
